JAMES B. LANDWERLEN - Shelby County Prosecuting Attorney

Brad first joined law enforcement as a Law Enforcement Explorer with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department in 1982.  He then became a Reserve Deputy in 1986, where he volunteered over thousands of hours until 1991.  He graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1984, then Marian College in 1988 with degrees in English and Psychology.  Brad obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from Indiana University School of Law in 1991.  Brad had clerked and served as a certified legal intern during law school at the Greenfield law firm of Lineback & Lewis, and upon graduation became an associate with that office until a position as Shelby County Deputy Prosecutor opened in August of 1991.  He served in that capacity until becoming Chief Deputy Prosecutor in Washington County from 1995-98, handling major felony prosecutions.  Brad returned home to Shelbyville as Shelby County Chief Deputy Prosecutor in 1999, handling major felony prosecutions for Prosecutor R. Kent Apsley for the next 16 years.  Brad was elected Shelby County Prosecutor in 2015, and continues to handle a major felony caseload.

R. SCOTT SPEARS, Chief Prosecuting Attorney

R. Scott Spears graduated from Indiana University in 1999 with degrees in Criminal Justice & Economics.  He graduated from Indiana University Law School in 2003.  During law school, Scott clerked with the Greenfield firm of Brand & Morelock, and he joined that firm in 2003 as an associate attorney.  Scott became a Hancock County Deputy Prosecutor in 2006, where he remained until December, 2014, handling a major felony caseload.  He has been with the Shelby County Prosecutor’s Office since December, 2014. Scott became the Chief Deputy Prosecutor July 2017 and continues to handle major felony caseload.

EDWARD ZYCH, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney

Ed Zych received his B.A. in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Indiana University in 1991.  He graduated Cum Laude from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis in 2001.  Ed served as Marion County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney from 2002-2010, prosecuting misdemeanors and minor felonies for the first 2 years, and then being the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team Prosecutor for the Homicide division for the next 7 years.  As such, he responded to the scenes of, and prosecuted, all DUI related homicides for Marion County.  Ed became a Shelby County Deputy Prosecutor in 2011, and currently handles felony and misdemeanors prosecutions in Superior Court No. 2.

VICTORIA ATKINS, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for Child Support and Juvenile

Vicki Atkins graduated from Purdue University in 2008 with a degree in Management. She graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law in 2011. Prior to earning her JD, she worked as an intern in the Marshall, porter, and Tippecanoe County Prosecutor Offices. Vicki was a Deputy Prosecutor in Tippecanoe County from 2011-2015 where she handled D felony, misdemeanor, and child support cases. In April 2016, Vicki joined the Shelby County Prosecutor's Office and currently handles child support and juvenile delinquency cases.

JILL ALLISON GAGNON, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney

Jill Allison Gagnon graduated from Ball State University in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.  She worked for 7 years for Marion Superior Courts, first with the Honorable Patricia J. Gifford and subsequently the Honorable Sheila A. Carlisle.  She then graduated from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law through an accelerated 2-year program in 2010, and became a Marion County Deputy Prosecutor, prosecuting cases in the D-felony Division, the Domestic Violence Division, and the Juvenile Major Felony Unit.  In 2013, Jill became an Assistant Corporation Counsel/Assistant City Prosecutor for the City of Indianapolis Office of Corporation Counsel in 2013 handling cases for the Department of Code Enforcement, IMPD Nuisance Abatement, and Indianapolis Animal Care And Control.  She became a Shelby County Deputy Prosecutor in December, 2014, and handles felonys, misdemeanor and infraction prosecutions, in Superior Court No. 2.

JEREMY PASEL, Deputy Prosecuting Attorney

Jeremy Pasel graduated from Franklin College in 2008 with a degree in Political Science and History. In 2012, he earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the Indiana University - Robert H. McKenney School of Law in Indianapolis. Jeremy was a certified intern at the Marion County Prosecutor's in October 2012. While at the Marion County Prosecutor's Office, Jeremy handled a wide variety of cases including Juvenile cases, D-Felony cases, Arsons, Robberies, and Homicides. In June 2017, Jeremy left the Marion County Prosecutor's Office to join the Shelby County Prosecutor's Office. Jeremy currently handles major felony cases in Superior Court No. 1 and Circuit Court.
